UPDATE (2/21): There still hasn't been an arrest made in an animal cruelty case in Bayview.

Two dogs were shot last week, one of them died and the other is still recovering from bullet fragments in the skin.

The dog's family says they just want someone to be held accountable.

The sheriff's office says they will release more information when the case moves forward.

BAYVIEW – A local family says they believe someone is targeting dogs in their neighborhood.

Bayview resident Kelly West says she wants someone held accountable for killing her German Shepard and shooting her Poodle.

She says she let her dogs outside last Monday for a routine bathroom break, but only her Poodle came back with a gunshot wound.

West says she searched for her missing German Shepard for days.

"I had a feeling he maybe wasn't going to come back and I was just really devastated," she says.

The West family says they’re spending more than $500 at the veterinarian making sure their Poodle recovers from the gunshot wound.

The family says they ended up finding their German Shepard dead behind a brush in a neighbor’s backyard with a gunshot wound.

The West family now says a neighbor’s dog was shot and killed as well.

Under Texas law, a person is prohibited from intentionally, knowingly or recklessly cruelly treating an animal.
