BROWNSVILLE - Last month Customs and Border Protection officials sent out a notice requesting public comment about upcoming border construction projects

One man tells us this proposed wall will divide their housing park in Brownsville.

Norman Rourke says a levee divides sections of the housing park where he resides, but soon there could also be a border wall and the only way through it will be a gate; that’s his biggest concern.

"If they fail and an EMS vehicle is trying to get in to take care of someone needing their help - they are not going to be able to get there, and that person is going to die," he says.

Rourke says he hopes CBP reads these statements on their website and are giving them serious consideration.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to CBP on how or if these comments will be used in construction plans, we have not heard back yet.
