BROWNSVILLE – Though the weather has been sunny and clear in recent days, the city of Brownsville isn’t taking any chances after recent heavy storms caused major flooding.

Officials say they want residents to be prepared in case another storm causes flooding.

The city of Brownsville is providing free sandbags to residents and business owners on Friday and Saturday.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with the assistant city manager to find out more about these efforts.

“We believe that preparing early is the key to having good outcomes in the event of any heavy rainfall," says Assistant City Manager Art Rodriguez.
