MCALLEN – People living in a McAllen neighborhood no longer have to maneuver around a sewer project that blocked off a busy street.

Construction on a sewer project connecting 2nd Street to K Center Street was finalized.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS first asked the city about the project last week after residents raised concerns about how long construction was taking.

The city had its final meeting about the project Thursday morning.

McAllen Public Utilities general manager Mark Vega said the contractor is picking up debris left behind and cleaning the street but traffic is now flowing freely.
