DEA to Hold Medication Disposal Event
MCALLEN – The Drug Enforcement Administration is offering people a way to properly dispose of their unused medication.
According to a press release, the event will happen Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue.
The agency says this is a way to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft by ridding people’s homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted medication.
The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Liquid medication and needles will not be accepted, only pills or patches.
The DEA says last fall about 456 tons of prescription drugs were turned in.
