MISSION – The German Shepherd seen being dragged by her former owner in a viral video was adopted.

Father Roy Snipes, priest at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, adopted G2 this week.

She now goes by the name Ceniza.

“Well we got her this week of the Mericoles de Ceniza, on the eve of Ash Wednesday. She had that name G2, which didn’t really seem that feminine or romantic name, so Ceniza just kind of landed on her,” he said.

Father Roy said while Ceniza has only been on the church grounds for a few days, she’s adjusted well to her new life.

He said once she becomes more comfortable with her surroundings, she will start attending mass with him along with his other dogs.

Ceniza’s former owner, Mario Cardona, remains jailed on an animal cruelty charges.
