Edinburg Fire Chief: Overnight House Fire Suspicious

UPDATE (5/18): Hidalgo County Fire Marshals suspect arson following a fire near Edinburg.

Officials said the suspicious fire broke out around 1 in the morning at an abandoned home on Monday.

When firefighters arrived, the front door was open leading investigators to rule the fire as suspicious.

No one was injured during the fire.

EDINBURG – The Hidalgo County fire marshal is investigating an overnight house fire in Edinburg. Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider is calling the fire suspicious.

It happened on the 6800 block of East Ingle Road. Fire crews got the call shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Snider told CHANNEL 5 NEWS when they arrived on the scene, the front door was opened and items from inside the house were scattered on the ground. The blaze was contained to the living room and a bedroom.

According to the fire chief, the house was vacant at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. We’ll bring you any updates as soon as they’re available.
