EDINBURG – A man who works across the street from the crime scene on Monday night is speaking out.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots on the 1300 block of North Closner Boulevard.

Juan Serna says he has worked every day without thinking about the restaurant building the fatal shooting took place.

"This area has always been a very safe area. I've lived in this area for around 16 years, there's never been any of this type of violence," says Serna.

He says now he will have to find a way to work without fear.

Investigator Jessie Moreno says he can’t reveal much about the case or those involved.

"Due to this being an ongoing criminal investigation, no information will be provided at this time in reference to their names," says Moreno.

He also adds it’s always a good idea for people like Serna to be vigilant and watch for dangers around them.
