Family of Unclaimed Veteran’s Remains Tracked Down

WESLACO – More relatives of a late veteran with ties to the Rio Grande Valley have been tracked down.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported how the cremated remains of Frank Solis, an Air Force veteran from Mercedes, were found inside a storage unit in Lexington, Kentucky.

Management of the storage unit discovered his remains in a unit that was put up for auction after the bill went unpaid.

Solis’ remains were turned over to the Fayette County coroner. Since then, he has worked to track down any living relatives.

The coroner said may of Solis’ relatives have already passed.

On Thursday, he told CHANNEL 5 NEWS he was able to track down four blood relatives of Solis, two nieces and two nephews.

He is now working on getting an agreement with them to have Solis buried in a national cemetery in Kentucky.
