Former Mission Mayor Fighting to Review Last Year’s Race

MISSION – The former mayor of Mission has filed a petition with the Texas Supreme Court to review last year’s race.

Beto Salinas lost to the current mayor, Armando O’Cana, by 157 votes.

Salinas alleges 709 votes were cast illegally – he is now seeking the court reverses the lower-court’s decision.

A judge ruled the election void last October but an appeals court ruled O’Cana could keep his seat in April.

The Texas Supreme Court will now make the decision.
