Government Sending Letters to Buy Land for Border Fence
SULLIVAN CITY – The U.S. Department of Justice is sending out letters about the government wanting to buy some land for a border fence.
Recently, a Sullivan City family received a letter from the government last Friday saying they want to pay for some of their land to put up a border fence.
The family owns property in Los Ebanos.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS asked the U.S. Department of Justice if the letters had anything to do with President Donald Trump’s executive order.
The agency responded the letters are connected to the original take of the border fence in 2006.
The letters are to determine if the landowner is claiming an interest and if they agreed with the price of the property taken.
