EDINBURG – The Hidalgo County Commissioners Court has approved a proclamation and declared September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month provides a time to come together and open the conversation and provide strength around a difficult topic. 

The National Hotline is 1-800-273-TALK; everyone is encouraged to use the number when you, a friend, or loved one is experiencing a crisis.

The Third Annual Hidalgo County Suicide Prevention Event will be held Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at North San Juan Park.
