NEAR LA BLANCA – DPS arrested a man in connection to a fatal crash that killed a toddler.

Ruben Hernandez, 29, of Mexico, was arrested on Monday. He’s charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.

The accident happened on Monte Cristo Road two weeks ago.

DPS said a family in a SUV was heading west on Monte Cristo when a car heading east veered into the westbound lanes. The car hit the family’s vehicle head on.

The 2-year-old, Acel Cuellar, was killed during the collision.

The surviving family members remain hospitalized.
