MCALLEN — Class valedictorian is a prestigious honor for any high school student. At McAllen Independent School District, officials made them feel extra special this year.

Four valedictorians from four high schools in McAllen were each honored a surprise car parade with balloons and a goodie basket, along with a visit from Superintendent Dr. J.A. Gonzalez.

“We wanted to make sure to go the extra mile for our students. To do something to surprise them and their families, so that they can know that they are special to us and their hard work did not go unnoticed. They have very bright futures and McAllen ISD is very blessed to have them,” said Gonzalez.
