Metro McAllen to conduct public study for improvements
McAllen is looking to increase capacity on its public buses.
Officials said as the city grows, so does ridership. They're launching a study to find out what improvements are needed.
Part of the study could determine if major streets will be added to rapid bus transit, according to Metro McAllen Director Mario Delgado.
“Throughout the entirety of the study, we will be looking at getting feedback from our users, from the public,” Delgado said. "Obviously, we want the people that use the transit system to be able to give us the information that we need to know how we're going to build this."
A grant of more than $1 million from the Federal Transit Administration is helping pay for the study that is expected to launch later this month.
