Mission sees jump in permit applications for home improvement projects amid pandemic

MISSION – Curfews and shelter-in-place orders mean more time at home. Which is bringing families together for home improvement projects.

The Mission Planning Department is noticing more people are applying for building during recent stay-at-home orders. Officials believe residents forced to stay home are using their time wisely.

Families are using that time is being used for residential projects, such as fences, roofs, patios and sheds.

A city official says if people are taking the time for home projects to not forget about safety, adding there is a lot of touching in construction, so gloves, masks and washing of hands is a must.
