UTRGV Falls to New Mexico State, 63-61

EDINBURG - After a physical battle, the UTRGV Men fall to New Mexico State by one possession, 63-61. The Vaqueros rallied back from a nine point deficit, where 14-seconds decided the outcome of the contest.

Senior Terry Winn III led his team with 18 points, Sophomore Javon Levi scored 11 points, and Graduate student Tyson Smith scored 10 points.

UTRGV trailed 29-27 early in the second half. The Vaqueros took the lead when Graduate student Solomon Hainna and Winn made back-to-back buckets; then took the lead after a Winn jumper.

Big Orange trailed 59-53 before Levi hit a three late in the fourth. Smith hustled down the court, sinking a three to make the score 60-59 New Mexico.

UTRGV tied it up with fourteen seconds on the clock, but NM State got the final possession ending with a basket.

UTRGV is back home on Thursday January 31st, where they'll welcome Chicago State. Tip off set for 7pm.
