ALAMO- Heavy equipment could arrive in the Rio Grande Valley as soon as Monday.

Federal officials say materials are on the way in advance of a border barrier project that's set to begin this month.

Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection say that equipment could be used on federally owned land.

The Rio Grande Valley hosts several federally owned parks that sit along the border.
