PHARR – A 22-year-old is facing charges after he stole an ambulance in McAllen.

Justin Ibanez is charged with theft of a vehicle.

Police responded to the 300 block of West Expressway 83 last week. Ibanez was being taken by ambulance from San Juan to McAllen Medical Center when he allegedly took control and stole the ambulance.

Ibanez crashed the ambulance shortly after and fled on foot. He was caught a short time later in Pharr.

His bond was set at $75,000.
