Armed driver found dead in Fort Worth after gunfire, chase
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Texas police investigating a report of an armed man using social media to threaten to kill himself say he was found dead after an exchange of gunfire, a chase and a wreck.
Fort Worth police Sgt. Chris Britt says investigators aren't sure if the man died due to the traffic accident early Wednesday, whether he shot himself or if police gunfire killed him.
Florida officers contacted Fort Worth police about the man's Facebook postings. Britt says officers tracked his cellphone, located his vehicle and he fired at police before driving away. No officers were hurt.
Police returned fire and chased the vehicle, which hit a pole. Britt says the man, whose name wasn't released, had multiple weapons.
The Florida law enforcement agency wasn't immediately released.
