MCALLEN – Filmmakers of the Rio Grande Valley, CineSol 14th Annual 36-Hour Film Race starts Friday.

Registration will take place at the Pharr Community Theater at 213 W. Newcombe Avenue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Teams are tasked to shoot and produce a film within 36 hours.

Festival Director Henry Serrato says the film race is a popular event.

“We’ve seen high schools compete, middle schools compete, an elementary team competed one time,” said Serrato. “We’ve had teams from Matamoros and Austin travel to compete specifically for this competition.”

The films submitted will be screened at the CineSol 26th Annual Film Festival on Nov. 24 at South Padre Island.
