WATCH LIVE: SpaceX prepares for Starship’s 12th launch from Starbase
SpaceX announced on Thursday evening they’re now targeting a 6:30 p.m. launch for their Starship rocket from the Cameron County city of Starbase.
The 90-minute launch window opens on Thursday, May 21, at 5:30 p.m.
A viewing party for the launch is being held at the site of the old Port Isabel causeway, with people from as far as Kentucky and Australia in attendance.
This will be the first Starship launch of the year, and the rocket will launch from a newly designed pad at Starbase.
The flight will also be the debut of the next-generation Starship and Super Heavy vehicles, powered by the next evolution of the Raptor engine, SpaceX announced.
SpaceX also issued a noise advisory for the launch due to the rocket’s “33 Raptor engines firing upon ignition and as the vehicle launches toward space.”
Channel 5 News will livestream the launch in this article. Check back for updates.
