SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Defense attorneys for the woman accused in a fatal hit-and-run in South Padre Island claim they aren’t getting the information they need to ensure a fair trial.

Daisy Joy Decker is facing a total of nine counts in the case, including manslaughter, intoxication assault with a vehicle and accident involving serious bodily injury.

The Sugarland woman pleaded not guilty.

She’s accused of killing a Los Fresnos woman as she walked in the pedestrian lane on Gulf Boulevard. Two other people were injured.

Decker’s attorney, Ernesto Gamez, is requesting that state prosecutors turn over police video interviews conducted on witnesses, as well as their statements.

The judge granted attorneys 10 days to get the information from the South Padre Island Police Department.

A jury trial is set to begin April 9.
