The Texas primary election day is on Tuesday, and two Democratic candidates running in the U.S. House District 15 primary say that every vote counts right now.

With a congressional seat left open after U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez announced he would run for District 34, Democratic candidate Ruben Ramirez says his experience as a veteran, teacher, and attorney make him qualified for the position.

"When I taught chemistry and physics, I noticed that there was a part of the student population that was not being paid attention to," Ramirez said. "Those were the students that were not going to go to college. What were we doing for them?"

Attorney and businessman John Villarreal Rigney says he has what it takes to make the voices of Valley residents heard.

"I grew up from nothing. I grew up doing a handyman job. I grew up working very hard to pay for my college education," Rigney said. "That wealth of knowledge and expertise I believe makes me the best-qualified candidate."
