EDINBURG--DPS troopers are searching for a driver who hit one of their units and then took off.

It happened just after 12 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 281 south of Iowa Road in Edinburg.

DPS Lieutenant Johnny Hernandez said the trooper was stopped along the highway when the driver of a white flatbed truck veered towards the unit, side-swiping it.

The driver kept going.

The trooper was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

Hernandez said the suspect vehicle should have front right damage.
