WESLACO - Facebook is reportedly working on removing misinformation about vaccines.

The social media platform will remove advertisements spreading conspiracy theories and will control pages and groups sharing misinformation from being visible on the search page.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with a family doctor who stresses the importance of vaccination.

Dr. Mariano Salinas says residents who have serious health issues such as cancer should also be getting vaccinated.

"Everyone is vulnerable. It depends on the immunizations; we need them for children. In adults, we need adult immunizations,” says Salinas.

He says studies show vaccinations are safe.
