Federal funding available in McAllen for housing organizations
The city of McAllen is offering support to housing organizations through its federally funded HOME Investment Partnerships programs.
The program aims to expand affordable housing opportunities, which includes services like educational classes for first-time homebuyers.
The city says it's already been awarded $500,000 for the next fiscal year.
"The goal that we're looking at is constructing eight to nine homes per year. Sometimes, that deliverable is met, sometimes it's not, because funds have to be deviated to other programs. But that's just kind of what we have as a goal with our partners," Grants Administration Department Assistant Director Priscilla Avila said.
Organizations can apply online by February 6. For more information, click here.
