MCALLEN – A first-time homebuyer is worried she made a bad investment. Imperfections in her brand new home are a point of concern.

As Halloween decoration line the entrance of her home on Kendlewood Avenue. Mairah Melgoza said it’s not the decorations that keep her up at night; it’s the constant cracking and imperfection in her brand new home.

She is hoping to get the construction company to fix all the minor damages.

Melgoza’s home is under warranty, but she said it’s been difficult getting the construction company to complete the much needed repairs.

“It's kind of disappointing when you think you made a good investment and it ends up not being a good investment just because of all the issues that I’m having," said Melgoza.

After moving in, Melgoza said her family started noticing the minor issues.

“I started to notice like the small pieces, the missing part of the island, the cabinet doors started to open and close, the bricks weren't sealed correctly, the wall cracking. It was like one thing after the other," Melgoza described.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS contacted the construction company. The company said they would contact the homeowner to address the areas of concern.

Melgoza said the construction company called her back this week and a repairman stopped by her home to start repairs.
