Gov't Assistance Available for Bad Cotton Season
WESLACO – Cotton farmers can now enroll for government aid in case of a bad cotton season.
This assistance is available for the first time since the 2014 Farm Bill.
Cotton farmers must apply for a USDA safety net program at their local farm service agency in order to receive federal aid.
A group known as the 'Agriculture and Food Policy Center' in College Station is offering a calculator to assist those applying.
It will allow farmers to add up their acreage of cotton online.
