WESLACO - The governor is ordering an investigation into admissions for state universities.

In a statement, the Office of Governor Greg Abbott, says he sent a letter to all Texas Public University Board of Regents Monday.

This comes after the U.S. Department of Justice's investigation into the widespread college admissions bribery scheme.

The boards are being directed to examine and investigate state university admissions policies and procedures.

The governor says this is to ensure no university employee engages in fraudulent schemes.
