Homeowners protecting their pipes from freezing temperatures
With homeowners trying to prepare their homes for the upcoming arctic cold front, hardware stores are seeing a boost in business as homeowners prepare their homes for the cold weather.
The hottest selling item at Weslaco’s Ted's Borderland Hardware is foam insulation for pipes to prevent them from freezing this holiday weekend.

Another way to protect your pipes is by using the slow, drip method while conserving water.
“It is recommended that you run a little bit of water through your pipes, and just keep a small trickle,” Rosemarie Ellis of Ted’s Borderland Hardware said. “You don't want to waste a lot of water."
The hardware store also incandescent lightbulbs to help keep pets warm, plastic tarp to insulate plants, and fire wood to run an outdoor fire on the cold upcoming nights.
