WESLACO – A man accused of killing a woman and putting her remains in a septic tank was arraigned at a Hidalgo County district court.  

Aristeo Cervantes Jr. was charged with first-degree felony capital murder on Wednesday.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported Cervantes was already serving a 12-year prison sentence for the stabbing of his wife in 2015.

Cervantes has a pre-trial hearing date set for Dec. 14.

His bond was set at $500,000.
