Man Sentenced in Father and Son's Murder

STARR COUNTY - The suspect in a 2016 double murder was sentenced to life in prison Friday. 

Jesus Angel Rebollar was found guilty of murdering 41-year-old Hector Garcia and 3-year-old Julian Garcia Thursday.

A gunman, later identified by authorities as Rebollar, opened fire on Garcia's truck in November 2016. It happened near Rio Grande City along Woods Brother Road. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, his son who was in the passenger seat, was rushed to the hospital where he later died. 

Less than a month after their deaths, Rebollar was named by authorities as the shooter.

At the time of the shooting Rebollar was 17-year-old. 

The reason for the shooting is still unknown.
