MCALLEN – McAllen mayor is calling for re-enforcement at the international bridges.

On Wednesday, Mayor Jim Darling told CHANNEL 5 NEWS he wants the federal government to increase the help in immigration issues especially on the bridges.

He says border officials added barriers with concertina wire to prevent immigrants from reaching U.S. grounds.

Darling says immigrants have breached the barriers at night at the Anzaldua Bridge when it’s closed; those asylum seekers have waited to turn themselves in the following morning.
