MCALLEN – Michigan State Police and the FBI are looking to the Rio Grande Valley for tips in a cold murder case.

The murder dates back 20 years. Authorities haven’t been able to identify the victim but believe he is from McAllen.

The FBI said the man was on his way to Chicago when he was murdered near Toledo, Ohio in the fall of 1997.

He was driving an older model blue or black Ford Taurus. Authorities also believe he was likely married with children.

“What we’re looking to do is to find justice for a victim who was violently killed. And to also bring, hopefully, some closure and peace to his family that may still be in McAllen or Rio Grande Valley area,” FBI Special Agent Michelle Lee said.

Anyone with information about the victim or the case can call the FBI’s Toledo office at 419-243-6122. People can also submit tips anonymously online at tips.FBI.gov.
