A migrant woman gave birth to a baby Sunday after crossing the Rio Grande near Brownsville.

On Sunday night, U.S. Border Patrol agents and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers noticed someone walking on a levee road near the river.

"Upon arrival to the subject’s location, they discovered a distressed female, later identified as an adult Honduran citizen, experiencing labor pains," according to a news release from Border Patrol. "Agents immediately requested EMS and advised the Brownsville Border Patrol Station of the situation. While awaiting the arrival of EMS, the woman went into labor requiring the agents and officers to deliver the baby."

A photo released by Border Patrol show the woman lying on the ground. Border Patrol agents are kneeling next to her holding the baby.
