MCALLEN – A temporary location for a McAllen respite center is catching the attention of nearby residents.

The new center is located off of Hackberry Avenue in McAllen.

KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro spoke with residents who live near the center to get their opinions about the change.

One resident tells us he’s concerned about the people staying at the respite center; another nearby resident has resorted to calling police twice in regards to this situation.

“I had to call the police and say, 'there are strange people outside my house’,” she says.

Both residents do agree that there is an increase in the amount of traffic in the area.

This move will be temporary until a permanent building is built.
