WESLACO – Sensitive Rio Grande Valley areas are protected from physical border barriers for the time being.

Congressman Henry Cuellar says the new 2019 Appropriations Bill signed into law on Friday applies to past border wall projects.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says they are still unsure about how the new bill will affect future border wall construction in Bentsen State Park.

Cuellar explains this is not a permanent change and appropriation bills change on a yearly basis.
