New Network to Prevent Failed Calls During Emergencies
WESLACO – A new network will help first responders during emergencies.
Cell phone towers can get backed up at times, which doesn’t allow emergency calls to go through.
If calls come from large numbers of people, for example during a natural disaster or traffic jam, the bandwidth is limited.
"If there's no bandwidth, that means no data gets through, which means calls are going to have trouble. You will end up queued up in what's essentially a line for your data to move through," says CHANNEL 5 Chief Engineer Michael Leal.
