Over 900 Pounds of Marijuana Found in Abandoned Vehicle in Fronton
FRONTON – Border Patrol agents out of Rio Grande City found an abandoned vehicle filled with marijuana near the river in Fronton over the weekend.
Sixteen bundles weighing a total of 928 pounds were found inside of a 2003 black GMC Yukon off of Riojas Lane.
Two males attempted to hide near the river; multiple people were seen on the Mexican side of the river.
Starr county investigators arrested Santos Guerrero-Lopez and Luis Alejandro Lopez-Reyes, both Mexican nationals.
The drugs were seized, as well as the vehicle.
Both men are charged with possession of marijuana, a second-degree felony.
The case is still pending investigation.
