San Juan, Mercedes Hold Runoff Elections

WESLACO – Three city commissioner seats are up for grabs in tomorrow’s runoff elections in Mercedes and San Juan.

In San Juan, voters will choose the Place 2 city commissioner. Ernesto “Neto” Guajardo and Rubio Muniz were the two candidates who got the most votes in the May city elections and are the candidates in Saturday’s runoff.

Voting will be held at the fire department in the north side of the city. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mercedes voters will fill two seats left undecided in the May elections. Leo Villarreal and Leonel Benavidez will face off for Commissioner Place 1. Armando Lopez and Cris De Leon Hernandez will go head-to-head for Commissioner Place 3.

Voters can cast their ballots at the Mercedes Civic Center, located at 520 West 2nd Street.
