Starr Co. Fire Dept. Recovering From Changes
LA ROSITA - The La Rosita Fire Department is trying to bounce back from recent setbacks.
Last month, eight of the nine first responders at the department were laid off and only one of their fire trucks was working at the time.
Starr County Commissioner Precinct 1 Jaime Alvarez said he had to downsize on personnel in order to invest in equipment repairs. He said the department is now operating with six units and four firefighters.
Alvarez said he’ll continue to hire more staff as funds become available.
