In Starr County, health officials confirmed on Tuesday 105 additional COVID-19 cases. The new cases bring the county’s number of confirmed cases to 721.

The total is just shy of the record set two weeks prior at 106. At that time, the total numbers were boosted by a large increase in cases from a nursing home, said Dr. Jose Vazquez, the Starr County health authority.

According to Dr. Vazquez in a news release, there are currently 569 active cases, 149 people have reportedly recovered from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.

The county has reported three coronavirus-related deaths. Two fatalities are pending residential information.
