Suspect Involved in Cameron Co. Teacher's Death in Custody
HARLINGEN – A suspect accused in the death of a Harlingen teacher is now in custody.
Thirty-six-year-old Jessica Cortina was found dead inside her home on Ebony Road just after midnight Tuesday.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio told CHANNEL 5 NEWS Cortina died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators said her husband was arrested just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, after leaving the home.
Sheriff's investigators were at Wilson Elementary to investigate the educator's death Tuesday morning.
Harlingen CISD told CHANNEL 5 NEWS they will have extra counselors on campus to help students and staff as needed.
