SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Hotel rooms that are normally booked at South Padre Island are empty amid the talks of a possible border shutdown.

The Pearl Resort’s director of sales and marketing says they’re behind pace compared to last year.

"We've seen that the booking window is typically seven to ten days now, basically because people are waiting to make decisions based on what happens with the border closure,” says director Johnny Martinez.

He says the resort has already made adjustments to rates if a border closure comes.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey reached out to the city to find out more about their plans for Semana Santa.
