The capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has sparked celebrations and protests across the country, including a protest in McAllen on Monday.

Protesters near McColl Road and Pecan Boulevard were hoping their message travels out of the Rio Grande Valley and straight to lawmakers in Washington.

"Hands off Venezuela!" protester Emily Clark said.

Clark, along with about 40 other people, took to the picket lines to protest the U.S. strikes in Venezuela and the apprehension of Maduro.

"I think it is dangerous the U.S. is involving themselves in this," Clark said.

She's worried the action taken in Venezuela will lead to U.S. troops on the ground, something President Donald Trump has not ruled out.

"I know people, I have friends in the military," Clark said.

Maduro is on U.S. soil facing federal drug and weapons charges along with his wife, Cilia Flores.
