UPDATE (6:10 PM): The water is back up and running at the Simo Subdivision in Lyford.

Residents had been without water since 7 p.m. Tuesday.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS is told repairs took much longer than expected, because of the lack of supplies.

------------

LYFORD – More than 12 hours after a water break in Lyford, at least 100 residents are still without water.

City officials tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS, when the subdivision was built the main water line was reduced to a number of downsizes or smaller pipes and they may be the cause for the break.

Public works has been working to fix the break and install a cut off valve.

That valve will help limit the number of residents affected in situations like a water line break.

The break happened at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Repairs are being prolonged because the supplies needed to repair the break and install the new valve weren't immediately available.

City officials tell us they're hoping to have water back to this subdivision by 3 p.m. Wednesday.

There is drinking water being given out at City Hall on Main Avenue for people affected.
