Woman Killed in Cameron Co. Crash along FM 106 is Identified

RIO HONDO – The Department of Public Safety is investigating a two vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer in Cameron County.

A female passenger was killed.

The deadly crash happened Thursday at 9:10 a.m. on FM 106, near Centerline Road in Cameron County.

According to DPS, the tractor trailer was traveling westbound on FM 106 when a red Chevrolet passenger vehicle, occupied by a male driver and female passenger, traveling eastbound veered onto the opposing lane.

Then the red vehicle collided with the tractor trailer.

The driver of the Chevy was transported to the hospital; the woman traveling with him was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials identified the woman as 75-year-old Teresa Arenas Vasquez of San Benito.

The driver of the tractor trailer did not sustain any injuries.

DPS cleared the roadway and is open to traffic.
