SAN BENITO – A Rio Grande Valley woman is still waiting for the construction of her new home to be complete.

Rosie Martinez works as a nurse’s aide instructor. She told CHANNEL 5 NEWS something continues weighing on her mind.

“It’s stressful just waiting to see what’s going to happen,” she said.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS introduced you to Martinez in September. She paid thousands of dollars to RGV Affordable Homes, LLC for a frame home for her son.

Martinez said the company promised to complete the home’s construction on her property no later than Feb. 24.

Nearly eight months later, there’s still no evidence.

“They were supposed to get our money back and the lien of our property,” said Martinez.

In September, we reached out to the former owner of RGV Affordable Homes LLC, Elsa Pirkle. Pirkle told CHANNEL 5 NEWS in a phone conversation the company is under the management of her father and is in the process of going out of business.

She claimed the deal with Martinez would be done within two weeks. Two weeks have come and gone, but Martinez is still searching for answers.

“My concern is the lien off of the property. So we can go on and move on do something else with it!” she said.

We reached out to Pirkle again by phone on Monday. She declined an on-camera interview.

The woman said her attorney anticipates the deal will be done by the end of this week. Martinez said she wants to keep her options open.

“We have to probably go to an attorney now, maybe hire my own attorney,” said Martinez. “I didn’t want to go that route; we’ve already spent all this money.”

Martinez said she hopes the issue will resolve itself in the coming days.
