SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – An alligator was taken off the streets in South Padre Island.

The Birding Nature and Alligator Sanctuary says they received a call Sunday about a nuisance gator right off Padre Boulevard.

Officials managed to remove the four-foot animal.

Sanctuary workers remind people to throw fish scraps into the garbage if alligators live in the area.

If not, more wildlife encounters are likely.
